The National Stuttering Association (NSA) is the largest self-help organization in the United States for people who stutter. The NSA was created in 1977 to bring hope, dignity, education, and empowerment to children and adults who stutter. The NSA serves as an advocate for the stuttering community and works to raise public awareness of this misunderstood disorder.
The NSA has over 3000 members nationwide and operates on a network of over 80 active chapters.
NSA Tucson chapter was formed by David Carless in 1977 and was one of the first five NSA Chapters in the Country. For many years the group met at the University Medical Center (UMC) and in 1998 moved to Morgan Maxwell's office on Speedway in the heart of Tucson. Both David and Morgan continue to attend NSA Tucson.
